Virginia quintet Parachute has been on the rise since it landed the song "She's Love" in a Nivea commercial. Suddenly, thousands of women with smooth legs wanted more of those smooth pop-rock sounds. In the resulting buzz storm on iTunes and the like, the song eventually also landed on the current pop music holy grail -- the soundtrack to an episode of One Tree Hill. With an upcoming tour slot opening for O.A.R. (which arrives at the Pompano Beach Amphitheatre on August 29), it's only a matter of time before these guys are all over VH1 and whatever other channels/programs still play music.

Before they blow up, if you're around West Palm Beach this Saturday you can catch the band this Saturday, May 16 at CityPlace, where they play a WRMF radio Need to Know Artists Showcase at Blue Martini. (It's at 550 S. Rosemary Ave., West Palm Beach, inside the mall and upstairs by the movie theater.) Also performing are fellow VH1 faves Erin McCarley, the Script, and Carolina Liar. The show starts at 7 p.m., and admission is free until 10 p.m. Ages 21 and over, please.

Parachute's new single, "Under Control," is currently iTunes' free

single of the week. Featuring bouncy pianos and sunny, soul-inflected

vocals, the song should appeal to fans of Maroon 5 and company.
