If you've got a hankering for some independent pop music, the Talent Farm has you covered this Friday. Philadelphia natives the Scenic, who recently signed to Victory Records, are currently touring the U.S. promoting their latest album, Find Yourself Here. It's as straightforward as a pop record can get, loaded with catchy hooks and choruses and sugary-sweet lyrics proclaiming just how wonderful life is. It would be too much to take if the songs weren't such well-crafted singalongs, but the Scenic manages to keep the gag reflexes at bay with tight guitar work and earnest lyrics.

Joining them is the Sophomore Attempt, an edgier, but no less poppy, outfit from Jacksonville. If you're feeling too old or embarrassed to hang out with the young folks at the Talent Farm, you can stream the show from your computer at home by visiting thetalentfarm.com.

The Scenic, with the Sophomore Attempt and Back to the Party. Friday, May 8, The Talent Farm , 20911 Johnson Street, Pembroke Pines. Show starts at 6:30 p.m. Tickets cost $10 in advance, $12 day of show. 954-438-3488; thetalentfarm.com
