The music festival craze seems to know no bounds as another impressive two day lineup has been announced for South Florida. This time, it is the inaugural edition of the Riptide Music Festival, which will be held December 3 and 4 on the beach of Fort Lauderdale.

Put together by Entercom, which owns four South Florida radio stations, the fest is separated into days targeted at different audiences.

Saturday is for fans of modern and indie rock who listen to 104.3 the Shark (WSFS-FM). Headliners are Silversun Pickups, who earlier this year put on a raucous show at the Culture Room. Other highlights include Scandinavian electro-pop group Miike Snow, the pop-punk celebrities of Good Charlotte, and the reggae-inspired Dirty Heads.

Sunday has a more retro feel inspired by the playlists of 102.7 the Beach (WMXJ-FM) and 101.5 Lite FM (WLYF-FM). Among the legends of yesteryear who will be making their presence known on stage are R&B powerhouses Earth, Wind & Fire, the Athens, Georgia party-pop band the B-52's of "Love Shack" fame, and a taste of what the '80s was like at Fort Lauderdale Beach with local heroes Exposé and Debbie Deb. Also included on the roster for '80s flashbacks are the Fixx and A Flock of Seagulls, with more artists still to be named.

The roster press release also advertised attractions beyond live music. "The Underground Lounge is where rockers can discover a new meaning to the underground experience in Fort Lauderdale, the #BITEME Food Court featuring a wide array of locally sourced treats, and an assortment of spectacular interactive installations will create a beach wonderland in December."

Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday, September 30, at riptidefest.com. Prices go as low as $35 for a Saturday pass, $50 to go just on Sunday, and $75 for a two-day pass. Free spenders can also purchase VIP tickets or cabanas with room for six.
