Rose Max is no stranger to the local music scene in Miami. She's kept busy since arriving in 1993, constantly performing and winning fans along the way. She's won the Brazilian Press Award three times (in '97, '98 and '01) for "Best Female Brazilian Singer Residing and Performing in the USA". But you can put those accolades aside. Fact is she's got a killer voice!

Along with husband Ramatis Moraes, Rose delivers Brazilian jazz, samba and bossa so rich, you'll think you just stumbled in off the streets of Rio de Janeiro. However, should you make your way to the Upstairs at the Van Dyke this Friday to see them perform live for the Brazilian Samba party, please keep in mind that you didn't. And this ain't Carnaval, so keep your hands to yourself. Do feel free to order a caipirinha though, and enjoy the show.

Rose Max and Ramatis Moraes performFriday, May 15, Upstairs at the Van Dyke Cafe, 846 Lincoln Rd., Miami Beach. Admission is free 305-534-3600; thevandykecafe.com
