If you haven't yet heard of Rocketown, you might possibly be over 25 -- an Old Person -- and therefore the rest of this doesn't matter. If, however, you are young and cherub-cheeked and missed the memo, it's the local branch of the famous all-ages (and, let's just put this out there, Christian-oriented) venue started in Nashville.
The local Rocketown, just like its older sister in Tennessee, is a safe, alcohol- and foolishness-free place to check out bands and do other teen stuff in a metropolitan area with few entertainment options for the underaged. Since it opened last year, the venue's been offering a regular slate of programming on Tuesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays, hosting both local acts and major touring bands.
Coming up is one of the biggest recent groupings of the latter. The "Scream It Like You Mean It Tour," sponsored by Rockstar energy drink, arrives in Pompano Beach at Rocketown on Tuesday, August 2, and features six bands. Some are already stars in their scene, and some are new: Breathe Carolina and Chiodos are arguably the headlining stars, with I See Stars, the Color Morale, Tek-One, and the Air I Breathe warming things up.
