Aussie nü-metal group Sick Puppies was booked to play our shores for Respectable Street's 22nd Anniversary Party last year, but the trio pulled a Flaming Lips on us and bailed out at the last minute. Just like the Lips, the Sydney three-piece is making amends — albeit a little farther south at the Culture Room.

The band attained unintentional YouTube fame by pairing its breathy, sentimental track "All the Same" with footage of artist Juan Mann walking around a Sydney shopping mall with a sign offering free hugs. After Mann's grandmother passed away, Sick Puppies sent it to him as a video sympathy card. Mann later posted the video, and it has attracted nearly 43 million views. The band leads a bill full of post-My Chemical Romance dark alt-metal acts like Janus, It's Alive, and My Darkest Days on Saturday night.
