It didn't take long for the Asylum Street Spankers' video for "Stick Magnetic Ribbons on Your SUV" to become a big hit on YouTube. It's exactly the type of guffaw-inducing political satire that gets e-blasted throughout cyberspace. Like any good Spankers' song (remember "Boogers"?), "Ribbons" starts out innocently enough, sounding like the kind of quaint, old-fashioned Americana you could share with Gramps — ukulele, tenor banjo, washboard, and harmonica are part of the many musical ingredients. But then the lyrics start up. To wit: "Please don't send me to Iran, and I sure don't wanna see Afghanistan/Any day now I could be another grunt sporting a stump/So buy another ribbon while you're paying at the pump." It's like The Daily Show meets vaudeville.

Asylum Street Spankers perform Friday and Saturday, December 8 and 9, at the Bamboo Room, 25 S. J St., Lake Worth. The show starts at 9:30 both nights. Tickets cost $22. Call 561-585-BLUE, or visit www.bambooroomblues.com.
