If anyone embodies the indie-dance phenomenon the best its Dim Mak founder Steve Aoki. The hipsterati mogul is notorious for crowd surfing, pouring endless bottles of Grey Goose into open mouths, and hyping the crowd to the brink of insanity. His music on the other hand isn't exactly blowing anyone away. It's not to say Aoki doesn't poses talent - this past WMC he spun at White Room leaving his stage antics behind and stuck to just playing music. It was hard to believe this was same man who normally has set intros that seem like something straight out of a Jock Jams compilation.Steve Aoki
But forewarned that at July 29 at LIV's Dirty Hairy you aren't going to see Aoki break out of his party-hard persona. Aoki's previous April set at the Fontainebleau nightclub was filled with electro-house bangers, climactic breaks, and yes, plenty of stage diving that had the entire club dripping in sweat. And as much as people want to hate (us included), its hard not to pump your fist while he drops dancefloor hit after hit.
So if you are inclined to check out the Benihana heir, along with locals Danny Daze and Contra, tickets are available via Wantickets.com for $30 for those above the legal drinking age. For more information call 305-674-4680 or visit livnightclub.com.
