The average Talent Farm show-goer was in elementary school during the first, early '00s heyday of the Savannah, Georgia act Circle Takes the Square. The band's influence on the post-hardcore, d.i.y. scene was such, though, that some of its reverberations can still be felt several generations removed. Thus hopefully this show will, if there is any musical justice, draw a wider-than-usual age range for the venue.

Dating from before "screamo" was a dirty word, the co-ed foursome married a spazzy, early version of the genre with grindcore speed, and slightly nerdy, almost jazz-band-style off-time experimentation. It was fun, fast, and exhilarating, but grew from a Savannah scene notorious for strife and bad luck.

Still, Circle Takes the Square has managed to soldier on, on and off, for the past decade, and this past summer marked its tentative return to the live circuit. This tour comes in advance of what will technically be the band's second studio album, Decompositions: Volume 1. Technically, it's an album, though at four tracks and about 23 minutes, it's more EP-length. Still, while the physical product isn't yet available, the music is already available for download on the band's Bandcamp site, and you can try before you buy.

Stream the whole record below to get pumped for band's October 31 show at the Talent Farm. The bill also features stellar newish out-of-town acts like California's Touche Amore (an artist on Converge's Deathwish records, to give you a hint as to the band's aggro-spazz sound), along with their buddies, the awkwardly named, but no less exciting, Pianos Become the Teeth from Baltimore.

Circle Takes the Square. With Pianos Become the Teeth, Touche Amore, City of Ships, and Capsule, 6 p.m. Monday, October 31 at the Talent Farm, 20911 Johnson St. #111, Pembroke Pines. Tickets cost $12. Call 954-438-3488, or click here.
