Surfer Blood's Jones Soda Pops Up at Northside Festival

So much genre misrepresentation happens these days, but Surfer Blood has definitely singled itself out as a "pop" act. Through a partnership with Jones Soda, the West Palm Beach band is promoting one of its signature songs, "Swim," on bottles of Blue Bubblegum soda.

The bottles are being distributed at the expertly curated Northside Festival this weekend in Brooklyn, where Surfer Blood had a pair of performances -- including one warming up for Guided by Voices.

County Grind contributor Christine Borges was kind enough to send us a shot of one of the bottles, and Surfer Blood tweeted a photo of the bottle as well.

In typically jovial style, the guys had this to say about the new venture:

This New York visit has been a busy one for the gents. According to an interview performed with NBC New York, guitarist Thomas Fekete let slip that the band's long-awaited EP is titled Tarot Classics. Or maybe it's the rhyme-tastic Castro Toast. Who knows?

Singer J.P. Pitts also composed a new song about bacon and performed it acoustically (see below).

In any case, we'll wait to see if the reviews of Northside Festival reveal any futher interesting Surfer Blood details. Possibly a deal with Listerine... all that bacon and soda's gotta be hard on the chompers. Miss you guys!
