For those of us who were out of town or just out of commission on Black Friday, the day signaled a new era for South Florida rockabilly fans. Sweet Chariots, whom Betsey Denberg interviewed with hair-raising results, released a debut album titled Bad Man and celebrated with a show at Respectable Street.
Now, the curious (or broke) can sample the results at the group's Bandcamp site. This is the official follow-up to The Ramblin' Man EP and signals a new level of sophistication for the Thomas Warren-fronted outfit. While it follows a history of roadhouse rock that dates back to Chuck Berry and Elvis Presley -- with that obvious Stray Cats stop in between -- Bad Man keeps things impressively current.
As drummer Freddy Schwenk says, the title track became the title track because it's their favorite one on the album. So here you go. Roll over, Beethoven -- or anyone else, for that matter.
