We're kinda hopping no one'll be singing the Florida blues again on January 19th this year due to any kinks in our state's electoral process. Instead, we're crossing our fingers that the only blues heard around here will be those coming from the instruments and mouths of Jacksonville's Tedeschi Trucks Band.
Along with the husband and wife duo Susan Tedeschi and Derek Trucks (who only started performing together in 2010), their 11-piece band will headline the three dates of the Sunshine Blues Festival. This is the inaugural year for a soon to be annual event, with stops in Fort Meyers, Boca Raton, and Saint Pete. These guys are having a great year. They sang at the White House with Prez Obama who even joined in on "Sweet Home Chicago" and swept the Blues Music Awards with four wins and a Best Blues Album Grammy for their 2011 release Revelator.
TTB will share the stage with Walter Trout, John Mayall's Bluesbreakers, Sonny Landreth, Jaimie's Jasssz Band, the Wood Brothers, Bobby Lee Rodgers, Dr. John, and other legends of the genre. According to a press release, Tedeschi and Trucks, are "thrilled to be a part of these inaugural festivals in our home state of Florida, and share the stage with some great musicians and friends."
