Thanksgiving is all about spending time with family. While this is wonderful in theory, in practice it can be stressful as hell when between bites of cranberry sauce, you have to defend to Aunt Gertrude or Tio Raul where exactly your life went so wrong. Fortunately, there is plenty of nightlife action this week. Here are ten Thanksgiving-weekend parties in Broward and Palm Beach that will help you say Grace with a smile on your face.
Let's Get Basted at America's Backyard
Start off the Thanksgiving weekend at America's Backyard. Wednesday, November 23, from 8 p.m. to 4 a.m. you can ring in four straight days with no work or school at Let's Get Basted, where they say you can "come enjoy a Friendsgiving night out before the actual feast begins."
The Third Annual South Florida Musicians Assistance Foundation Benefit Concert at Funky Biscuit
Give thanks on Thanksgiving Eve by donating to this nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting South Florida Musicians' healthcare needs. Among the acts taking the Funky Biscuit stage starting at 7 p.m. are Bluestone, Albert Castiglia, and Crazy Fingers.
Housewarming: It's All Gravey at McSorley's Beach Pub
The description for this Fort Lauderdale Wednesday-night party from 7 p.m. to 4 a.m. cuts right to the chase: "There's going to be two rooms of sound to get your groove on too. Incredible drink specials banging music to ring the holidays in right. Come party with us before you have to deal with that annoying extended family."
Thanksgiving Charity Dinner at Dada
For the tenth year in a row, this Delray restaurant is offering a $24-per-person Thanksgiving dinner with all proceeds going to worthy charities like the Lord's Place, Meals on Wheels, the Achievement Centers for Children and Families, Healthy Bellies, and Boca Helping Hands. Dinner starts at 5 p.m., and at 9 p.m. there will be live music from Low Life in Suburbia.
Yo! Flaunt Jams: A '90s Thanksgiving at Respectable Street
This annual Thanksgiving night celebration at Respectable Street kicks off Thursday, November 24, at 10 p.m. Dance all night to "Baby Got Back" with five different DJs playing the best of everything from grunge to Latin music. No cover gives you plenty of money to spend on $2 PBRs.
Yo Gotti Performing Live at Cafe Iguana Pines
If you're not in a turkey coma or insistent on watching football all night, head over to Pembroke Pines where the King of Memphis hip-hop, Yo Gotti, will be putting on a show. Tickets are $40 and doors open at 10 p.m.
Black Celebration — A Pajama Affair at Kreepy Tiki
After stuffing your belly, you may want to dress comfortably. If so, this is the party for you. If you come dressed in your pajamas, you'll receive a complimentary drink. There's no cover for those over 21, and you'll be treated to a live performance by Aceskully.
Black Friday Music Fest at Sunset Cove Amphitheater
Instead of waiting in line for deals you can probably get online, shake your turkey thighs away to the best of hip-hop and EDM at Black Friday Music Fest. The lineup is headed by DJ Khaled. Also on the bill are Keys N Krates, Purari, Walshy Fire of Major Lazer, Ape Drums, Casey Veggies, Yung Simmie, Liz Elias, MonT, and the official host, DJ Irie.
After-Thanksgiving Punk Rock Workout Block Party at Kreepy Tiki

Rhythm Fest with Stretch Armstrong at Rhythm & Vine
The Fort Lauderdale beer garden will let you end the long weekend right with a Sunday Rhythm Fest. From 1 to 4 p.m., you can sip on bottomless mimosas, bloody marys, or Peroni beers while dancing to the sounds of Stretch Armstrong, DJ Affect, and Misha Samson.
