Interracial R&B group the Crests charted many doo-wop hits, including "16 Candles," during its heyday in the '50s and '60s. After a late-'70s breakup, the rotating cast of members found a new following thanks to the John Hughes film named after their hit, as well as a cover of the song by the Stray Cats. The Crests' name and trademark were sold to Florida's own Tommy Mara in the '90s. While purists might take issue with that, Mara had previously performed with Crests founder J.T. Carter, and this show pays tribute to the recently departed Johnny Maestro, who was a Crest before his Brooklyn Bridge days.

Mara has kept the Crests' banner flying in his own way and has thrived in this circuit of oldies acts, bringing a little piece of a bygone era to fans of all ages for many years. Also onstage will be the delightful braggadocio of "Peppermint Twist"-famous Joey Dee and the Starliters as well as the full Legends of DooWop Tour featuring Joe Losicero of the Mystics, Jack Vitale of Randy and the Rainbows, Tony Passalaqua of the Fascinators, Frank Mancuso of the Imaginations, and Steve Horn of the Five Sharks.
