Fort Lauderdale-based jammers the Heavy Pets will play three shows in South Florida to remind us what could have been at Langerado. The band, which consists of guitarist Mike Genius, guitarist and vocalist Jeff Lloyd, bassist Felix Pastorius, drummer Jah Newitt, and pianist Jim Wuest, has been touring for the last three years, opened for Matisyahu, Perpetual Groove, and Particle, played the after-party set at Phish shows (Is that, like, the 6 - 9 a.m. time slot?), and are headed to Bonnaroo in June. Their funky rock 'n roll brand of jam will provide the groovy relaxation needed after the eternity that was Winter Music Conference.
They'll open for Dr. John at Seminole Coconut Creek Casino May 16 at 7 p.m. Then they'll head to Fort Lauderdale's Dive Bar the same night to play at 10 p.m. They're booked to play May 19 at Roxy's in West Palm Beach at 9 p.m.
