One+One, James Zabiela's beloved collaboration with Nic Fanciulli, is long done. But Zabiela, the flaxen-maned, one-time-wunderkind, is doing more than fine as a solo star. Only 30 years old, but already a pro for the last 10 years, each year sees him developing his technical wizardry further. His musical background is in breakbeats, a genre that was always big on turntable skill and cutting tricks. And though Zabiela's style has evolved more or less to tech-house, he's always at the forefront of software and hardware. via the William Morris Agency
It's been a while since his last releases, which were allin 2009: an original track for Bedrock called "Tylium," a remix of Rennie Foster's "Devil Water," and an installment of the mix series Renaissance: The Masters Series. It's high time for some new material, and it's likely Zabiela will air some out at this year's conference.
For whatever reason, his gigs this year are all at daytime pool parties: two at the Shelborne, and one at a Beatport pool party at the Gansevoort. Details are below. Presale tickets for the DJ Mag party on Wednesday, March 24 are already sold out, sorry. Also, we don't have much info on the Beatport Pool Parties yet, either. Looks like they're at the Gansevoort this year instead of the National, although so far, Zabiela's the only one to release an official date for any of them. Stay tuned.
