A massive fire engulfed an 80-foot yacht docked behind the Bahia Mar resort on Fort Lauderdale Beach on Wednesday night.
Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue says it received a 911 call from Marina staff around 10:30 p.m. at the marina, located at 801 Seabreeze Blvd. It said no one was aboard the vessel, which is reportedly worth $3.5 million. No one was injured, though one responding firefighter had to be treated for smoke inhalation on the scene.

According to a deputy fire chief for Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue, Tim Heiser, a nearby 120-foot yacht was also damaged due to the massive fire. Two people aboard that vessel had to be evacuated by fire rescue boats. On Thursday, firefighter investigators were assessing the damage.

Firefighters had some trouble getting to the fire, due to where the boat had been docked.
"It was a difficult fire to get to, because there was approximately over 200 feet of dock between where we parked the engine and to where the vessel where the fire started was at," Heiser says.
