-- The Broward Times' Elgin Jones learns that the Broward Black Elected Officials club was being run by Lauderdale Lakes Commissioner Levoyd Williams at city hall with the help of city employees on the city's dime. Levoyd's longtime friend, Commissioner Hazelle Rogers, was also involved.
This isn't good news for Josephus Eggelletion, who is also involved in the group and who counts both Leyoyd and Hazelle as cronies. Read about it here. In related news, Lauderdale Lakes commissioner David Shomers has finally been admitted into the group, which formerly denied him entry based on the color of his skin (white).

Last month, in a private dining room at the Westin hotel in Fort Lauderdale, board members from the South Florida chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists were gathering for their regular bimonthly meeting. In the small talk before things got started, someone asked, “Did you read Norman today?”“Blog or column?”
What followed was a wide-ranging analysis of both “blog and column.” At one point, a board member loudly declared, “I don’t read that blog. Ever.” Another backed her up.
Gee, I wonder who the "loud" female board member was? That's impossible to figure out, especially to anyone who has never ever been to an SPJ event in their lives. By the way, that last line in the interview was meant to be mostly ironic, but instead comes across as mostly serious. Damn. I've been a little off-key lately.
