BSO deputies shot and killed a ski-masked robbery suspect to allegedly was trying to hold-up an Allstate Insurance office at a Pembroke Pines business plaza Thursday afternoon.
Deputies were called in at around 3 p.m. by an anonymous tipster that an armed man with ski mask was inside the insurance office at the 1400 block of South Palm Avenue.
When confronted by cops, the masked suspect refused to put his weapon down when ordered to do so.
Police opened fire and killed the man.
Earlier in the week, BSO detectives learned from a confidential informant that the suspect, a 23-year-old Miramar man, was planning on robbing the office on Thursday.
He was ambushed by police when he arrived at the Allstate office.
But because he was non-compliant with orders to put down his weapon, the deputies immediately perceived him a threat and were forced to respond with deadly force.
The suspect was pronounced dead at the scene.
There were no employees inside the office during the encounter.
According to a BSO press release, homicide detectives are investigating the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
