Nearly a month after Gregory Frazier was fatally shot in his Pompano Beach backyard, the Broward Sheriff's Office has released the names of the two officers who shot him.
According to spokesman Veda Coleman-Wright, both Zachary Hasson, 22, and Andre Landells, 26, fired their guns. Both were relatively new to the force: Hasson had been with the BSO since February 23, 2015, and Landells since August 10th, 2015.
So far, the BSO has not provided any further information about what prompted the officers to shoot, beyond saying that Frazier "produced a knife." The sheriff's office has also not disclosed how many shots were fired in total, although neighbors have reported hearing at least five.
The incident is still under investigation by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, and both Hasson and Landells are on administrative leave.
Update: BSO spokesman Veda Coleman-Wright has confirmed that both officers are on paid leave. Both deputies' salaries are $50,260.08. Neither had any prior incidents that were investigated by the BSO's internal affairs department.
