Broward Sheriff's Office Deputy Geoffrey Brown injured his leg Saturday night after he and his partner interrupted a burglary at an unoccupied Southwest Ranches home. But a BSO news release indicates Brown was released later that night. One of the suspected burglars was not so lucky.
Jesus Borrel Vazquez, 48, was shot and killed by deputy Gerald
Wengert after the van that Vazquez drove allegedly struck Brown, injuring his
leg. Another bullet from Wengert injured the passenger in that van,
Luis Rivero, 42, of Miami. Rivero is still being treated for his
injury. He faces felony charges of murder and burglary, according to the release.
