Former Chicago Bulls forward, local bar hopper, and occasional wedding-dress-wearer Dennis Rodman has apparently written a children's book. The NBA Hall of Famer has teamed up with screenwriter Dustin Warburton, who penned the cinematic masterpiece Spiders 3D, to write Dennis the Wild Bull, slated to be released in September.
A cross-dressing former basketball player nicknamed "The Worm" and a B-movie horror writer collaborating on a children's book? Smells like literary gold!
Rodman was drafted by the Detroit Pistons in 1986 and played for them until 1993, winning two NBA titles with the team before winning three more with Michael Jordan's Chicago Bulls. Rodman made headlines on and off the court with his wacky antics, such as changing the color of his hair on a nightly basis, getting a shitload of body piercings and tats, flying to and from Vegas in between NBA playoff games, appearing at the signing of his autobiography wearing a wedding dress, and dating Madonna.
There are no other details on Dennis the Wild Bull other than the book's website saying the book's intent is to "relay a positive message to our country's youth and to his own children" and "conveying good lessons to children based on Dennis's own experiences as a world class athlete."
Rodman's wife recently stated that he owed her $808,935 in back child support. According to the Los Angeles Times, at the time his third wife filed for divorce in 2004, Rodman listed his monthly expenses as more than $30,000, but the former Mrs. Rodman listed her expenses as $17,000. In March of this year, Rodman's attorney claimed that the Worm was suffering from alcoholism and that he was "very sick" and "broke." In April, Florida police issued an arrest warrant for Rodman for failing to pay child support. The warrant was eventually revoked once Rodman and his ex hashed out a deal.
And now he's written a children's book for all the children of the world to learn from his own experiences! Heartwarming.
