For once, people are thankful they don't live in Florida for reasons that aren't related to bizarre murders.

This time, it's due to a semiviral internet meme that shows things you could find only in Florida.

When we say "only in Florida," we mean things like an alligator head in a stroller, a lizard eating Cheetos, or a group of deer with mailboxes for heads.

Sure, "only in Florida" does a 17-year-old kid allegedly murder his parents with a hammer so he can throw a Facebook party, and "only in Florida" does the Tea Party say protecting manatees is against the Bible.

But take a look at Buzzfeed's "40 Things You'll Only See in Florida" and you probably won't deny that any of the photos were taken in the Sunshine State.

Our sister paper to the south, Miami New Times, recommends that you show off gaudy Florida-themed jewelry to combat the "only in Florida" meme, which, mind you, would probably happen only in Florida.

But remember, most of the absolutely shocking things around the country that you hear about in the news happen "only in Florida."
