Christopher Castillo of Melbourne, Florida, was not so happy that Barack Obama was going to implement his health-care law. It was the last straw, even.
So Castillo, 28, did what we all do when we're angry about stuff. He went to The Facebook and updated his status with angry emoticon faces.
And by "angry emoticon faces," we mean he threatened to hunt down and kill Obama:
That's the last straw, if he gets re-elected I'm going to hunt him down and kill him watch the life disappear from his eyes.
You would think that Castillo had a momentary lapse of reason and posted something dumb about the candidate he did not like. But then you would be wrong. Because Castillo was far from finished in expressing his desire to take Obama out.
When a Facebook friend responded to Castillo's status telling him that threatening the president was against the law, Castillo responded:
"I wouldn't call it a threat but more of a promise, let them come after me... Be more than happy to take a few of them with me."
Good one!
Naturally, the Secret Service eventually paid Castillo a little visit after word got out that he wanted to murder the president and "take a few of them" with him.
According to the report, an agent asked Castillo what he would do to Obama if he were standing right next to him.
Castillo remained his reasoned self and answered, "Bitch-slap him and beat the shit out of him." He also told the agents that he would yell at the president and tell him he's a terrorist.
When the agent told Castillo that he was basically committing a federal crime by saying things to the very people whose jobs are to protect the president, Castillo answered that "it did not matter."
Castillo was arrested today on a felony complaint filed in U.S. District Court in Orlando. He will remain in custody until pretrial services officials can outfit him with a GPS monitoring device.
Castillo's father, Frank, told Florida Today that this was simply a case of just another person jumping on Facebook and saying stuff he didn't mean.
According to at least one report, Castillo had recently lost his job after allegedly getting into a physical altercation with a coworker. He also apparently tried to commit suicide and was evaluated for mental health issues.
