While we spent the week cubicle-dwelling and and driving up and down I-95, some young people from Fort Lauderdale's Honey Project were meeting with the president -- of Ghana.

The Honey Project is an international program that teaches entrepreneurial skills. Honey farmers in Ghana sell their product to urban kids in Fort Lauderdale, who in turn re-sell it (for $10 a jar). Through the partnership, both sides learn small business skills such as accounting and marketing.

A program staffer named Nathan Burrell emailed The Juice from the Ghanan city of Agogo but could not write a long e-mail due to power outages. However, project advisor Becky Wright posted on her blog that the students met Thursday with President John Atta-Mills, a former professor who was just elected in January.

"We are all still in absolute amazement at this opportunity that most do not have," Wright wrote. "We met in his private office and presented him with the official Honey Project travel manual and T-shirt. Cameras were not allowed in the palace. We hope to get a copy of the video and pictures from the Country's official videography staff soon."
