Fort Lauderdale police are searching for a masked man who robbed a Taco Bell employee at gunpoint.

Cops have converged at the Taco Bell restaurant on the 1800 block of Federal Highway in Fort Lauderdale.

They have closed off the area as they continue to search for the suspect.

According to reports, the employee was cleaning up outside the Taco Bell when a man in a mask carrying a gun approached and demanded the employee's personal things.

The suspect reportedly took a cell phone and other personal property belonging to the employee.

The suspect ran off as the employee's coworkers arrived for their shift.

Police have not been able to confirm earlier reports that the gunman had tied up the employee.

For now, Fort Lauderdale Police are continuing the search and have closed off Federal Highway near SE 17th Street.
