Keezor told the Sun-Sentinel that he was a model employee. (Except for that pesky dress code, apparently.) He said he wasn't fired until he started reading his Bible at work last month. And he told Fox News that he was fired for supporting his country and brother, who is serving in Iraq.
Yeah, that sounds about right. It wasn't because the private corporation that employed him doesn't want to alienate customers who might not worship the same war-loving deity as this genius. He was clearly fired because Home Depot -- which offered Keezor several "United We Stand" buttons to replace his and has a firm policy against all non-Home Depot buttons -- hates this country and this guy's brother.
Keezor said he wouldn't wear a pin without God in it because "you can't have country without God."
When I asked a manager at the store (who refused to give his name) if I could get a job there and wear a "Your God fucking hates you because you're so stupid" button, he hung up the phone.
Plenty of people think Keezor shouldn't have been fired. Keezor, who said he's planning a civil lawsuit (and has absolutely no chance of winning), said his cause -- being allowed to wear religious insignia at Home Depot -- is a divine one.
"I want to be a voice for the rest of the Christians and for the citizens of this country to stand up for the country. You know, quit being told to sit down. Say what you want to say and don't be afraid of the consequences."
This guy makes Joe the Plumber look like Noam Chomsky.
