Spirit Air pilots are threatening to strike, and so far, Spirit Air executives haven't blinked. The South Florida Business Journal is reporting that the airline gave notice that it's ready to lay off nearly 1,600 employees if the pilots head to the picket line June 12.

Those workers would come from the company's corporate headquarters in Miramar and from Spirit operations at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport.
