The jury has just received instructions for deliberating the fate of John Goodman, the Wellington polo mogul charged with vehicular homicide and DUI manslaughter in the car accident that killed Scott Wilson two years ago. Closing arguments will take place this afternoon, and the jury will begin deliberating after that.

Goodman took the stand yesterday and stammered his way through defending himself. One of his most bizarre statements: The morning of the crash, just before 1 a.m., he was on his way to get a Wendy's Frosty -- not cocaine, as another witness suggested in her statement to sheriff's investigators.

"Let's go get some cocaine," Stacey Shore remembered Goodman saying to her that morning at the Players Club in Wellington.

Shore refused, and Goodman left the bar alone -- to get a Frosty, he said.

A multimillionaire driving his Bentley in the wee hours of the morning to a fast-food joint -- that's quite an image. Who knew a tasty frozen treat would play such a central role in this high-profile trial?

Stay tuned for updates.
