Wellington polo mogul John Goodman is in a Palm Beach County jail this morning, charged with vehicular homicide and DUI manslaughter in connection with the February crash that killed 23-year-old Scott Wilson. [Palm Beach Post]
Construction Department staffers at the Broward County School District were reportedly told by their boss to find a job for architect Richard Rubin, the husband of Broward County Commissioner Diana Wasserman-Rubin, expected to be charged soon by the state prosecutor in an unrelated corruption case. Wasserman-Rubin denies having a role. [Sun-Sentinel]
Faced with a huge budget shortfall, the Broward County School Board has changed its mind on Race to the Top and will now hustle to compete in the federal program's second round. Its provisions still tie teacher and principal pay with student performance on tests, but the program has been altered a bit in those respects to appease teachers and parents. [Miami Herald]

In Oakland Park, a woman has been arrested for leaving her 18-month old child in a hot car. The woman was at Workforce One on Oakland Boulevard looking for work. The child was unconscious and sweating profusely. [WSVN-7]

A performer at Flashdance in West Palm Beach accepted a ride home from a customer, only to introduce him to her gun-wielding boyfriend, according to police. The couple was arrested and charged with armed robbery. [Palm Beach Post]
