Strangling his girlfriend with telephone cord, bashing her over the head with a lamp, attempting to scoop her eyes out with tweezers, and trying to drown her in a bathtub didn't kill Murray Bloom's former flame, but he'll spend the rest of his life in prison for trying anyway.

On January 24, 2006, the cops got several calls from people living in a Jupiter neighborhood about Bloom -- also known as "Ivan Israel" -- armed with a knife and breaking out a window at a house.

When the cops showed up, they found Bloom's girlfriend covered in blood and hiding under a truck, with her hands still partially bound by a telephone cord.

A neighbor told police Bloom's girlfriend had shown up at her door with blood all over her face, and as the neighbor tried to wipe the blood off of her, Bloom broke through a window and crawled into the neighbor's living room.

Bloom's girlfriend ran away while he approached the neighbor, gave her the knife, and said, "Where is she? I won't hurt her." Naturally, she ran away too, and the cops showed up shortly thereafter.

Bloom's girlfriend told the cops she and Bloom had been in a disagreement over how he treats her, where he decided to use the argument, "I'll kill you... I will torture you and put you in the trunk; you will die a slow death."

He then got violent, kicking her and punching her in the head before going for the household utensils.

Bloom hit her in the head with a lamp, then took her head into his hands and slammed it on the floor a few times.

He then tried to tie her hands behind her back with a telephone cord, but when she got free, Bloom decided to try strangling her with it instead.

He made his girlfriend crawl into the bathroom, where he punched her again and tried "pluck her eyeballs out with tweezers."

She told the cops that at this point, she finally got away and ran to her neighbor's home.

Bloom was convicted of attempted second-degree murder and armed burglary in July and was sentenced yesterday to life in prison.
