Hell, let the bank have it! Because it's not like the former New York Giants star wideout was using the Lighthouse Point mansion he bought in 2005. No, these days the 32-year-old Plaxico Burress has a rent-free room at New York state's Oneida Correctional Facility, where he's counting the days to the end of his two-year prison sentence for criminal possession of a weapon.
A reflective Burress sat down with CBS on Monday night, telling the interviewer:
"It made me take a step back and (think), 'Wow.' You can't stress it enough - your choices affect so many people."
By the time he's eligible to return to football, Burress will be 34
years old -- ancient by NFL wide receiver standards. Former teammate
(and Miami alum) Jeremy Shockey thinks Burress can make a successful return to the NFL; but that seems like a long shot (if you'll pardon the pun).
And even if he does return, Burress had better live within his means. The days of $4 million homes are over.
