Rick Scott announced today that home and business security company ADT will be bringing 120 new jobs over the next two years to Boca Raton.
Last month, Palm Beach County commissioners approved $184,000 in incentives to ADT.
These new jobs will add to the nearly 700 ADT employees already based in South Florida.
"Not only is ADT's continuing growth in Florida a win for the state's business community and the economy," said Scott, "but it's a significant benefit to Florida's families as well.
Scott said this employment expansion validates that Florida is "on the right track for creating an environment where businesses can succeed."
The development organization Business Development Board of Palm Beach County worked extensively with the electronic security company over the past several months, assisting with information on the business climate and workforce in Palm Beach County.
Boca Raton Mayor Susan Whelchel has been involved in getting the company to expand its workforce.
"Over the past year, I have had the chance to build relationships with many of the employees and executives at ADT," Whelchel said. "I am continually impressed by the employees' commitment to make a difference in the communities where they live and work. I look forward to being part of ADT's future."
Under the new agreement, ADT would keep 260 workers in its corporate headquarters in Boca and hire the 120 additional workers over the next two years, with an average salary of $81,110.
The county money will be supplemented by a state grant of $1.25 million to the company.
