According to the Broward Sheriff's Office, Lauren Tannehill, wife of Miami Dolphins quarterback Ryan Tannehill, rented a car for two hours and left an AR-15 semiautomatic rifle in the back. The gun was found by the woman who rented the car next, Judith Fleissig of Rochester, New York.
Tannehill is said to have rented a white Nissan Rogue from E-Z Rent-A-Car at the Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport around 5:50 p.m. January 4. She swapped it for another car two hours later.
Fleissig and her daughter rented the car about three hours later. Fleissig said they drove around for two days before noticing the gun under folded-down back seats. When they discovered it, they took a photo and called the car company. They were told to take it to a police station. They went to the Hillsboro Beach PD.
The gun is registered to Ryan Tannehill. He was told to contact Hillsboro Police to pick up the gun. The Dolphins told the Sun Sentinel this was a personal matter. A phone number for Lauren Tannehill that was listed on the police report has been disconnected.
