Two recent comments posted on this blog in the past week are worthy of bringing to the fore, methinks. One recently came from the 19-year-old daughter (apparently) of Olidia Kerr Day, the woman who was gunned down in the parking lot of the Plantation Police Department. It came in response to someone who had defended the police dispatcher (who did little to help Day prior the shooting).

Wow, thank you for your insightful information. SOMEBODY has to be on that 911 operator's side. I am sure she feels terrible for messing up my mother's 911 call. AS SHE SHOULD! She could have helped my mother. But she didn't do squat. Nothing was dispatched, no advice given. Nothing. And now that is what I have left...nothing. No mother, no happiness. Life is lonely. That woman deserves more than to feel bad, she deserves to be fired and they need to replace her with someone who knows how to be intuitive and sensitive to those in need. It is a high stress job, but that is more the reason why she shouldn't have taken it if she couldn't handle it. Obviously she couldn't.

And no, the 911 operator shouldn't have been hysterical because she wasn't the one being hunted down by a man with a gun. She shouldn't have been so excruciatingly CAVALIER. Instead she should have been on top of her game and a little less concerned about the suspect and more concerned about the victim. I thought it was crime prevention not after-the-fact paper work that needed to be the focus of the call.

Do me a favor, say this for me: "Don't get out of your car, keep driving." How many seconds did it take you to say that?

The woman couldn't spare those few seconds to give my mom some USEFUL advice? You know, other than to CAAAAAAAAAAALM DOWN.

At least I learned a valuable lesson: you are on you own in this world. Nobody will be with you when you die. If you are ever in trouble, you can't trust that others will help you. Not even the police can help you when you call 911, and run past an officer at a police station with blood dripping down your soaked white shirt from the first bullet hole.

I went from little miss optimistic to... bitter and jaded at the ripe old age of 19.

Sorry Mom, I love you my Angel.

Then this from Joel Feinberg, the owner of 790-The Ticket, who has had some troubles with the law of late and is the subject of one of the longest (and most vicious) message threads in Pulp history. Here Feinberg answers his critics (and does it well, I think):

I wish I could address each of my great fans individually, but my busy schedule of spending all my daddy's money won't permit it. What I can say is that you all have way too much time on your hands as well as severe jealousy and insecurity issues. (I'll put you in touch with one of my therapists).

I will be the first to say that what I did to Susan was inexcusable and completely undeserved. What happened between usbis our business and not yours to comment on.

As for all of you claiming to know me and all my personality flaws, get a fucking life..... I have done nothing to deserve the level of bashing that has been posted on this blog. Can I help the fact that I was born into a wealthy family? Can I help the fact that my venture in sports radio put me in the spotlight? Can I help that the only reason that any of you are talking trash is because my personal life made the news and now you have a forum to hide at your computer and bash me?

No, no, no, no, and no.....

I'm sure that every one of you has done something that you wish you could do over. If you don't then you're a saint, and I congratulate you on a wonderful and sheltered life.

Thanks again for all your support.

-- And lastly, the South Florida Business Journal followed two "media blogs" and reported that the Herald was planning some serious budget cuts. Continuing an apparent trend, it doesn't lower itself to actually name the blogs (Riptide and the one you're reading).
