No. 50: Bizcoche de Maiz from Maracas

Where does a tired drag queen go when she wants to let her wig down, enjoy a margarita, and nosh on a delicious, sweet corn cake with pico de gallo?

Why Maracas, of course! Managed by the same folks that own Lips, Maracas is the place to go for dish numero cincuenta of our top 100 Favorite Dishes.  Drag queens and non-drag queens alike will enjoy Maracas' fresh food and daily drink specials.

Cozy up to their Bizcoche de Maiz, a slightly sweet, pillowy corn cake served with sour cream, freshly made guacamole, tangy tomatillo sauce, and pico de gallo. If you like arepas then you've just died and gone to heaven; the Bizcoche de Maiz is giant, softer version of an arepa without the cheese.

Though it's an appetizer, it is large enough to be eaten as a meal. You

definitely won't want to share it but you probably should lest you be judged by

your contemporaries as selfish and totally gauche. Wash down this delicious Mexican delight with a few $2 margaritas (Monday and Tuesday)  or $1 sangria (Sunday)!

Salud!
