Delray Beach's 50 Ocean continues its 2015 Chef’s Summer Tasting Series with a multicourse “backwards dinner” on Tuesday, September 8, paired with the bold flavors of Tampa's Cigar City Brewing. Here, patrons will get to do the most adult thing possible: Have dessert first!
Forward Beers in a Backwards Dinner is presented by 50 Ocean's executive chef, Blake Malatesta, who recently battled in week eight of Delray's Chef vs. Chef competition. For $45 per person, patrons will enjoy five courses paired with five beers from the brewery, and it's not your run-of-the-mill selection of beers either.
Starting at 7 p.m., it's slated to begin with a cherry bleu vein clafoutis, brown butter shortbread, and mocha caviar paired with none other than Marshal Zhukov Imperial Stout. If that's not enough to get you going, slow-simmered Akaushi, potato-pumpkin whip, and crispy onion are set to be paired with Good Gourd, Cigar City's incredible imperial pumpkin ale.
A fish course, pasta, and an appetizer round out the meal.
According to the restaurant, the "backwards dinner" concept came as a way to infuse a little fun and humor. A beer dinner featuring Cigar City at 50 Ocean? That piqued our interest. Doing it dessert first? Now you have our attention.
For reservations, call 561-278-3364. Complimentary valet parking is available. 50 Ocean is located at 50 S. Ocean Blvd. in Delray Beach.
