This time of year, nothing says cooler temps for beer and cocktail lovers better than a rich porter, heavy stout or tasty nightcap, even in South Florida, where our idea of chilly means dipping below 75 degrees.

Palm Beach County

Havana Hideout

Havana Hideout in Lake Worth has one of the best deals going. Pair any of its bottled or draft craft beers -- even its homemade sangria -- with a variety of mix-and-match ice cream selections. The options are endless. Suggested floats: Sprecher Hard Root Beer or Miami Brewing's Cafe Con Leche stout, with vanilla ice cream ($9).

M.E.A.T. Eatery and Taproom

The Boca Raton restaurant offers a number of craft beers on tap and a few flavors of homemade ice cream. Put the two together, and you're in adult milk shake heaven. A crowd pleaser is still the Guinness and Nutella pairing, or go for Wells Banana Bread ale blended with good, old-fashioned vanilla bean ice cream. Specials allow you to blend any beer on tap with either ice cream for a more custom shake ($8.99).

Burger Bar

Burger Bar in Palm Beach Gardens has a full roster of adult milk shakes. The Mint Chocolate is especially popular, a creamy combination of Sobieski vodka, Creme de Menthe, and vanilla ice cream garnished with a mint chocolate Oreo. The Nutella Bourbon sounds positively amazing too: Wild Turkey bourbon, a few scoops of Nutella, and vanilla ice cream ($12).

Broward County

Tucker Duke's Lunchbox

The Deerfield Beach restaurant has several rotating local craft brews on draft at all times. This fall, it's offering its own sweet-treat version of a beer float too. On tap right now (and suggested pairings from owner Brian Cartenunto) include Funky Buddha's vanilla OP porter with a salted caramel gelato and cocoa nib rimmed glass, or Lazy Magnolia Brewing Co.'s sweet potato cream stout with vanilla bean ice cream, garnished with honeycomb and biscotti.

Riverside Market

A longtime craft-brew mecca, Riverside Market has a special treat in store for those who know to ask for it: Sam Adams Fat Jack (available in a special release bomber) served with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. It's the perfect fall pairing and one heck of an awesome beer float during November ($6).

Stout Bar & Grill

For a limited time, belly up to the bar at Stout Bar & Grill in Oakland Park for a sweet ending to any meal. They will be offering a 20-ounce Guinness beer float with vanilla ice-cream ($11).
