The "Burgerfication of the nation" marches onward, or at least the expansion of SoFla restaurateur David Manero's soon-to-be-not-so-fledgling upscale hamburger empire.
On July 4 (there's something else special about that date, but I can't quite remember what it is), the second BurgerFi is slated to debut in what used to be the largely ignored Surf Sliders restaurant at the corner of Ocean and Atlantic avenues. It's a prime beachfront location that Manero knows well, as it's also the site of one of his own former eateries, Shore Restaurant & Beach Bar.
In the "today Delray, tomorrow the world" department, three more SoFla
BurgerFi's are in the works, in South Beach, on Brickell Avenue in Miami,
and out in the 'burbs in Kendall. They'll join the Delray spot and the
original BurgerFi, which opened earlier this year in Lauderdale-by-the-Sea.
And
if that's not enough, five California locations are also planned, in
San Francisco, L.A., Glendale, Calabasas, and Pasadena. And it that's
not enough, Manero says he expects to have 100 BurgerFi franchises up
and running throughout the country within the next five years.
Just
so you know, BurgerFi's raison d'etre is a variety of all-natural Angus
burgers, which can be customized with up to 20 different toppings, plus
Chicago-style dogs, house-made cupcakes, and craft beers and wines.
It's David Manero's world, and we're just eating in it.
