The "Day of the Dead" is not Cinco De Mayo. It's a different Mexican holiday that focuses on remembering deceased loved ones.
In Mexico, families will build altars to honor the deceased and leave that person's favorite food or drink on their grave.
In America, it's another reason to eat, drink, and spend time with friends, and South Floridians are totally onboard with this one.
To celebrate, several restaurants in Broward and Palm Beach counties will be offering drink specials, a special menu, or both. Looking to stay at home? Clean Plate Charlie has a cocktail recipe that you'll love.

There are three Rocco's Tacos locations, but this is the only one that's having any sort of special party for Day of the Dead. The catch is the party will be two days late in order to coincide with the Best of Boca block party on November 3.
The block-party-style festivities will start at 4 p.m. The restaurant itself isn't holding a special party, and it's not taking reservations for the event. But it is encouraging partiers to come out to Best of Boca, peruse the vendor booths, and maybe have a few margaritas too!
2. Dos Caminos Fort Lauderdale
Dos Caminos is a fairly new Mexican restaurant located at the Sheraton Fort Lauderdale Beach. It's rolling out a swanky special menu for the night. To find out what's going to be on the menu, call the restaurant at 954-727-7090.
3. Fort Lauderdale's Museum of Art along with FAT Village are hosting a holiday celebration and skeleton processional on Wednesday, November 2.
The processional line will actually start at Nova Southeastern Fort Lauderdale Museum of Art at 5:45, and participants will be walking over to FAT village, Fort Lauderdale's art district. Join the line or meet everyone there for hours of art, live music, and good food from local Mexican food trucks.
Participants are also welcome to browse the museum from 4 to 6 p.m. The organizers ask only that processional participants dress as skeletons for humor and the chance to win a "best dressed" prize!
