Charm City Burgers in Deerfield reopened this afternoon after a month long renovation. The kitchen hood replacement was the catalyst for the remodeling, the plans for which were designed by owners Mike Saperstein and Evan David.
The duo took over Charm City Burgers in 2009 from an acquaintance who was going out of business, at which point they did cosmetic renovations. "We knew we were going to overhaul eventually," said Saperstein. After the jump, the new interior and changes to the menu.
"We like to use reclaimed items to not be wasteful," said Saperstein,
noting the rail at the window was constructed from the former communal
table.
Charm City's new look includes hardwood floors, a stainless steel bar,
and furniture they inherited from The Rebel House space, their third restaurant scheduled to open in January.
The kitchen sometimes turns out 600 burgers a day. The new equipment and layout makes it easier to expedite and is more comfortable for two cooks on the line.
The hours for now are 11a.m. until 11 p.m., Sunday through Thursday and midnight on Friday. Within the next couple of weeks, the bar will stay open until 2 a.m. on weekends. After 9:30 during the week, beers are $1 off and orders of wings are a buck.
Inspired by people's craving for fried chicken and Chik-Fil-A love, Saperstein added chicken sandwiches to the menu available fried or grilled. They include The Redneck with cheddar and onion rings, The Foodie, with gruyere, mushrooms, and caramelized onions, and the Cheffie, with blue cheese, candied bacon and sweet chili sauce. On the burger side, The Big Fat Greek with spiced lamb, feta, Greek slaw, and tzatziki will be available daily instead of an occasional special.The price of burgers will rise from $4.95 to $5.25 due to rising gas costs.
