If a beer with your pizza is good, many beers -- and of a wide variety of 'em -- is even better. The upcoming Cigar City Brewery Night will see the Florida craft brewer invading the newly opened Puccini's Pizzeria in Delray Beach for one night. The event blends together several of the standbys of the craft beer movement: a tap takeover, a beer dinner, and a beer tasting with an expert on hand to provide tasting notes and guidelines.

Former New Times food critic John Linn (now "Baron of Beer Happenings" with Fresh Beer Inc.) said there will be six Cigar City brews on tap among them:

  • Hotter than Helles
  • Florida Cracker Belgian Wit
  • Jai Alai IPA
  • Maduro Brown Ale
  • Cuban-Style Espresso Brown Ale

The highly rated White Oak-aged Jai Alai IPA also will be available that night. Each brew is paired with an item on the menu, but you can order at your own pace. Linn said this will be a "very informal" event and free pizza samples are included.

A $10 entry fee gets you a flight of four, five-ounce pours. The event is 7 to 10 p.m. Thursday, February 23.
