Dishcrawls and pub crawls have quite a bit in common -- both require a great deal of walking, both will probably make you regret the previous night's calories, and, most obviously, they're both a good time.

Coming up this month, Dishcrawl will be creeping its way down Las Olas Boulevard for an evening of self-indulgence -- and pigging out.

Fort Lauderdale Dishcrawl Ambassador Rebecca Shapiro filled us in on the crawl details.

The Dishcrawl will be held on Tuesday, July 23, at 7 p.m. The $45 ticket includes bites from four unidentified Las Olas restaurants. Somewhere between 72 to 48 hours before the event, the meeting point, which is the first stop on the tour, will be released to guests. The three remaining restaurants are top-secret until diners turn up to each one on the crawl. Your guide -- or ambassador -- is the only one among the crawlers who knows what the next stop is.

Shapiro, a South Florida native, received her ambassadorship about three weeks ago. This is her first event with the company, and it just so happens to be the first on Las Olas Boulevard.

"This is going to be a one-of-a-kind event where they [crawlers] can taste food from four amazing local restaurants," said Shapiro. "They will also get to hear from the chefs and owners about each plate and its conception. It's a wonderful place for friends to meet and have a good time and a place for people who are new to the area to get a feel for what Fort Lauderdale has to offer."

Founded by CEO Tracy Lee, Dishcrawl is about leading participants through progressive dinners and exposing them to area restaurants. Currently, Dishcrawl experiences are available in San Jose, San Francisco, New York, Montreal, Ottawa, Philadelphia, DC, Toronto, and other cities across North America.
