Burgers are becoming gastronomic creations.

This is most evident with Gimme a Burger, a fast-casual burger restaurant chain with locations in Pembroke Pines and Deerfield Beach founded in South Florida by Yasmin and Serhad Oktay. Its infused burgers are something to consider the next time you're in the mood for more than lettuce, tomato, and beef.

As a fierce competitor in annual culinary events, Gimme a Burger's secret to its burger success is its "infusion" process. Using only 100 percent certified Angus beef and a variety of ingredients, spices, textures, and flavors, the restaurant that first opened in Deerfield Beach in 2011 trademarked a new type of burger: the infusion burger.

That includes the bacon coffee burger, an all-beef patty infused with coffee, bacon, and brown sugar. There's also a French onion burger, infused and topped with caramelized onion; a Mediterranean burger infused with garlic, onion, and parsley; the Wow burger, infused with cured sausage; a steakhouse burger infused with steak sauce and mushrooms and topped with Tabasco fried onions; and the Caribbean jerk turkey burger, infused with jerk spices.

Each month, the grill masters at Gimme a Burger also craft a new specialty burger, while insiders know that the secret to combating mammoth-sized hunger is to order the one-pound Hurricane Burger.

To celebrate national vegan month this November, Gimme a Burger has created some vegan small bites made with quinoa, sweet potato, black beans, corn, red onion, and a special blend of spices. An order will get you six bite-sized vegan eats on a bed of lettuce with a choice of dipping sauce -- spicy ketchup, wasabi mayonnaise, garlic yogurt, barbecue or howling wolf sauce, for $4.95. Turn the bites into a flatbread wrap with tomato and lettuce for a few dollars more.
