Whether you consider yourself a budding filmmaker with a love for fine wine or an amateur sommelier who should have been in pictures, this contest is for you.

Wine Spectator's Seventh Annual Video Contest is accepting short film entries from now until September 2. Prizes range from free access to winespectator.com, to tickets to the New York Wine Experience and two passes to the Napa Valley Film Festival where the winning film will be screened.

"We strive to make learning about wine enriching as well as engaging. Our annual video contest provides an excellent vehicle for this mission, plus it's a fun opportunity to interact with the wider wine-loving community," said Thomas Matthews, Executive Editor, Wine Spectator. "This educational exchange is far from a one-way conversation. We gain fresh insights by seeing things from others' perspectives."

Entries considered "valid" by the lovely staff at Wine Spectator (as laid out in the contest rules) will receive six-month, full-access membership to WineSpectator.com. Finalists will get a pair of tickets to one of the Grand Tastings at Wine Spectator's Wine Experience in New York City on October 24 or 25 (which would otherwise cost $250 per person). The Grand Prize winner will get two tickets to the entire New York Wine Experience and two passes to the Napa Valley Film Festival, November 13 to 17, now in its third year.

There, while rubbing elbows with the snootiest wine people you'll find anywhere, your grand prize award winning film will be screened.

If you need some inspiration for your own film -- or are just curious what the hell a wine film could possibly entail -- view last year's entries at winespectator.com/videocontest2013.

The films can be funny or serious, but they should be informative and not just to promote your wine personal wine blog that, like, ALL your friends totally like and comment on. Entries must be submitted as s an mpeg, mov or avi file and be no larger than 500MB. Everyone involved in making the film, in front of or behind the camera, must be 21 and over.

Finalist videos will be posted at WineSpectator.com on September 9. The public will then vote on their favorite videos until September 16 when the second and third place winners will be revealed. The grand prize winner and honorable mentions will be announced September 17.
