The weekend has finally approached; a sign that busy work week tasks will take over our schedules no more -- for a couple days, at least.

Make the most of the time you have to yourself by learning the history of your favorite beer, sampling cocktails at the zoo, or savoring a tasteful dinner.

Whether your idea of unwinding after a long week is a gourmet experience wine tasting or a social dining event, South Florida has it. Here is this week's guide to the weekend's offerings.

5. Gourmet Experience Wine Tasting

Crown Wine & Spirits is hosting a Gourmet Experience Wine Tasting on Friday and Saturday at the Deerfield Beach, Fort Lauderdale, and Boca Raton locations. The tasting will include over 40 wines and spirits and gourmet food, including the finest selection of meats and cheese to pair. During tastings, there will also be up to 20 percent off. Wine tasting selections will be a diverse variety, such as chardonnay and cabernet sauvignon. Tasting will take place from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. and costs $15 per guest.

4. Beerrelevance: A Tasty Excursion in Beer History

Total Wine & More will be giving a history lesson on beer, the beloved drink of the masses, from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday. The Beerrelevance excursion will feature the brewing history of "New World" beers, but this course is not to be mistaken for any boring history class. As you learn about the classically brewed selection of beer from Germany, Belgium, England, and North America, you will also get to savor them (i.e. get drunk).

3. Super Sunday Summer Suppers

They say a Sunday well spent brings a week of content, so why not spend it with food? Le Bistro will be hosting a summer supper beginning at 5 p.m., complete with all works. Relish in a two-course meal for $25 or $30 for three courses. The Sunday roast menu features either soup or salad for starters, platters include carved roast beef with summer vegetables or mushroom risotto, and dessert options offer fresh fruit, custard, Chantilly cream and candied pecans.

2. The Delray Beach Bus Loop

Delray Beach's trolleys will be putting on a five-hour festival on Saturday, full of food and drinks. From 6 p.m. to 11 p.m., ride a trolley on either the East Delray loop, which departs from the Delray Beach Center for the Arts, or on the loop departing from the Delray Marketplace. The venues at which the loops will be making stops include Cabo Flats, Burt & Max's, Japango, TAP Global Beer Collection, The Beer Trade Co., The Vintage Tap, Shula Burger, Bella Amici, the Grind, and Hyatt Place. Receive a free drink at every venue on the tour, and stay as long as you wish at each -- you have plenty of time to get drunk. Tickets cost $20 in advance or $35 on Saturday and include food and drinks at each participating venue.

1. Roar & Pour: Across the Universe & Due South Tap Takeover

Attend a non-traditional night at the museum on Saturday from 4:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. at the Palm Beach Zoo. Enjoy live music, food, refreshing cocktails, beer, and animal encounters. Across the Universe, South Florida's Beatles tribute band will perform, and a special menu will be served to fit the night's "Roar & Pour" theme. The summer grill menu includes grilled sausages, mashed potatoes, onion gravy and buttered English peas. The Due South Brewery Tap Takeover will serve a Caramel Cream Ale and UXO American Strong Ale.
