4. The 8th Annual Taste of Harbor Beach
This year will mark the 8th annual Harbor Beach Marriott Taste of Harbor event to benefit the Miami Children's Hospital. Since its start in 2007, the event has raised more than $200,000 for the local hospital. The party will take place at the Fort Lauderdale Marriott Harbor Beach Resort & Spa on Friday, November 7, from 6:30 to 10:30 p.m. The grand ballroom will be transformed to feature live and silent auctions alongside culinary displays, including international wines and inspired dishes, hand-selected by local chefs. The evening will feature food stations from the resort restaurants 3030 Ocean and Sea Level, as well as signature cuisine selections by other local restaurants like Via Luna, The Ritz-Carlton, Fort Lauderdale Beach; Thasos Greek Taverna, Fort Lauderdale Beach; Chef Daniel Gerety, McCoy's Oceanfront, Pompano Beach Marriott; and Stout, Oakland Park. Auction items include a trip for two on Azamara Club Cruises. Desserts, cordials and coffee will be served following the auction. This Sunday, taste the finest wines produced in America at this year's American Fine Wine Social (AFWC) at Pavilion Grill in Boca Raton. All wines poured at these socials are have been invited to participate in the annual American Fine Wine Competition, which takes place each January. These award-winning wines are paired with exceptional food prepared by south Florida's most wine-savvy restaurants. Many take advantage of these events to meet other professionals as they help raise funds for local non-profits. This weekend, proceeds from the social will benefit Palm Beach County's RU4 ME Pet Rescue. The event takes place on Sunday, November 9, from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Entry is $45 per person, and includes samples of more than 50 award-winning wines, superb pairing courses, a raffle, and networking opportunities. The annual Feast of Little Italy, now in its twelfth year, and presented by Arrigo Fiat, returns to Jupiter on November 7, 8, and 9. This celebration of the very best of Italian culture draws thousands of visitors who will enjoy over 150 booths featuring everything from traditional Italian food to jewelry and home furnishings. This year there will also be over 15 large amusement rides and games and the Little Smiles Kids Zone. Over the last decade the Feast has drawn attention to various local and national nonprofit organizations and also contributed over $100,000 in direct and in-kind donations to these charities. The Feast's Official Charity is Little Smiles, a volunteer-driven nonprofit that provides assistance to kids in local hospitals, hospices, shelters, and similar facilities. This year, for the first time, Galbani Cheese, Golden Cannoli Shells Company, and the Feast will make an official attempt to break the Guinness World Record for the largest cannoli ever made. According to Guinness, the largest to-date in the world weighed in at 123 pounds. The event takes place on Friday, November 7, from 3-10 p.m.; Saturday, November 8, from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.; and Sunday November 9, from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. in the Abacoa Town Center located at 1200 Town Center Drive, Jupiter. Daily admission is $7 for adults, and children 12 and under are free.
1. Third Annual Delray Beach Wine & Seafood Festival
Delray Beach is the foodie capital of Broward and Palm Beach counties. That's evidenced by a growing number of new establishments hitting Atlantic Avenue, as well as a growing number of tasty food affairs. On Saturday, November 8, from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Sunday, November 9, from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m., Delray Beach will host its third-annual Wine and Seafood Festival, showcasing local restaurants and internationally renowned wineries. The event takes place on the east end of Atlantic Avenue, beginning at the Intracoastal and extending east to A1A. This year, the festival is offering an expanded menu of seafood items, special wine and food pairing seminars (ticketed), live music, and art exhibits. New this year: two wine gardens featuring more than 20 varieties of wine; a Heineken Lounge located near the main stage where you can get samples dispelled by Heineken beverage models; and a new seating area provided by the Delray Beach Marriott where you can relax and listen to live music while imbibing at a full liquor bar. The focal point will be the pay-as-you-go food and drink, however, with top chefs from local restaurants and vintners from internationally renowned wineries onsite offering samples of their best dishes and wines. The 2014 lineup includes establishments like Nick's Crab Shack, Coastal Crab Company, Taste and Tell, Boston's on the Beach, and the South Beach Grill.
