There's something about a hunk of ground meat in between two buns that just comforts the soul.

Whether it's fond childhood memories, the soft pillowy bun, the fatty burger, the cheese, or the combination of delicious ingredients in perfect handheld format -- that's right, we frown upon eating burgers with a knife and fork around here -- sinking our teeth into a greasy patty makes us immensely happy.

While we're all for the plain cheeseburger, there are times when we want to kick it up a gluttonous notch in our burger consumption with seriously decadence.

Here are the five most outrageous burgers in Broward County.

5. BurgerFi's Breakfast All Day Burger

A few years ago, egg on a burger was all the rage. Now, it's been there, done that. This South Florida based chain offers a combo that features an entire American breakfast sandwiched between two buns. It's the Breakfast All Day Burger, an Angus burger with American cheese, hickory bacon drizzled with maple syrup, fried egg,

hash browns, grilled diced onions, and ketchup. Oh, and you can add two free toppings. Suck it, Denny's.

4. ROK BRGR's King James

Bacon cheeseburgers are one of the best types of ground meat patty sandwiches out there. But let's be honest: It's been done before. Try ROK BRGR's royal gut busting version the King James ($15). Buttery brie, fatty Kurobuta pork belly, sweet red onion marmalade, creamy, earthy truffle aioli, and a hunk of burger sits between a fluffy bun. It's the aristocratic version of the original.

3. American Social's Surf & Turf Burger

Meat is great. And everyone loves lobster. This places combines the two already decadent proteins into rich and greasy sandwich form. The $17 Surf & Turf Burger features a pepper crusted burger topped with a butter sautéed, whole Maine lobster tail, steamed asparagus, sprouts -- to keep it healthy -- and béarnaise sauce stuffed between a toasted sesame seed bun.

2. Charm City's the Emperor

On pretty much every list for burgers in South Florida, this Deerfield Beach burger joint has a meat patty combo for any flavor preference; however, if you're looking for pure indulgence, it's the Emperor ($22.95) you're after. Available on an artisan baked sesame bun or a whole wheat oat bun, it's an eight ounce Kobe patty melt with sauteed mushrooms, aged gruyere, and truffled aioli with seared foie gras. We dare you to find a dish richer than that.

1. Burger and Beer Joint's The Motherburger

When it comes to excess, size matters. This Pembroke Pines outpost of the famed Miami burger outpost offers the largest burger in town. Ten pounds of certified Angus beef, lettuce, tomato, and onion are sandwiched between a manhole cover sized bun for $125. (You need to call ahead to order.) If you can eat the entire thing in two hours, the massive sandwich is free. May God be with you if you try.
