Dog days of summer be damned; this weekend is all about celebrating fun and the finer things in life, like cornhole and oompah bands. And beer -- lots and lots of beer. After the jump, find five food and drink events -- including those aforementioned activities -- happening this weekend in Broward and Palm Beach counties.
1. Yellow Green Farmers Market
This Hollywood produce and bric-a-brac market is open 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and this weekend, they're hosting a Summer Music Series with performances throughout the day by Electric Piquete. Read more about the event here.
2. Five-Year-Anniversary Party for Cantina Laredo in Palm Beach Gardens
Cantina Laredo in Palm Beach Gardens is celebrating the "cinco de Cantina" from 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday with live music by Latin Beat, drink specials, an appearance by the Corona girls, and raffle prizes, among other activities.
3. On the Slide food truck at Due South Brewing
Boynton Beach's craft beer sensation, Due South Brewing, has been blowing up the scene since opening in late spring. Check out their home base tonight and chow down on food truck grub from On the Slide as you sample the brewery's array of beers available on tap and by the growler. Can't make it happen tonight? Get there Sunday at 6 p.m. for the weekly cornhole competition.
4. Taste History Culinary Tour in Delray Beach/Boynton Beach
Get off the beaten path, try new (to you) restaurants, and learn strange-but-true tidbits of South Florida history during the three-to-four hour bus/walking tour led by the Museum of Lifestyle & Fashion History. The tour departs at 11 a.m. Saturday from the Boynton Beach Mall and the cost is $35 per person. Read more about the tour and see images from Clean Plate Charlie's recent trip, here.
5. Frühschoppen German Brunch
Dust off the lederhosen, because Oktoberfest has come a little early to Boca. OK; not so much Oktoberfest, as a rowdy Sunday brunch at Biergarten Boca Raton, but the beer will still be flowing. The mammoth German meal kicks off at 11 a.m. and comes complete with German music by Alpine Express. Stick around for a pig roast starting at 4 p.m.
