5. Eating for a good cause

From 5 p.m. to close tonight (Thursday) all South Florida Tijuana Flats will donate 20 percent of all sales to the American Diabetes Association's TourdeCure. There are locations in Pompano Beach, Pembroke Pines, Fort Lauderdale, and elsewhere. Find a full list of locations before you head out for dinner.

4. Grand opening of Ceviche Tapas Delray

They've been open since the end of 2012, but Ceviche Tapas Bar & Restaurant in Delray Beach held off on the grand opening fete until this weekend. From 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, they'll celebrate a ribbon cutting with a "red carpet experience" and free sangria and passed tapas.

3. Wine Carnival & Consumer Challenge

Oenophiles will want to get in on this action: the Wine Carnival and Consumer Challenge is set for this evening (Thursday) at the Museum of Art | Fort Lauderdale. The event, which falls under the umbrella of The American Fine Wine Competition, includes wine tasting, carnival booths with wine-inspired games, and an AFWC Challenge Table open to 12 guests to be randomly selected. The cost is $40 per person and proceeds benefit the Diabetes Research Institute. The event is 6:30 to 9 p.m. and tickets are available online.

2. BaconFest

This hot-ticket item sold out last week, but maybe you'll get lucky and score a pass from a generous friend or the bacon gods. On Saturday, Seminole Casino Coconut Creek will host more than a dozen local restaurants and vendors who will hand out bacon-inspired bites and special porcine treats during Florida's first-ever BaconFest. The Bacon Brothers will headline the entertainment and booze will be available for sale. The event starts at 6 p.m.

1. South Beach Wine & Food Festival

Celebs, booze, outrageous eats, tons of parties, Anthony Bourdain... Miami Beach is the place to be this weekend with the always-popular South Beach Wine & Food Festival in town. There are dozens of events on the lineup and at least a few that haven't yet sold out (what can you do -- it's the hottest gig in town). The South Beach Wine & Food Festival lineup can be found online, but even if you can't make it through the gates for an official event, consider crashing one of the dozens of satellite parties throughout the city.
